Rangers

   For almost two years these nice twelve fellows have been waiting to be painted! It was September '13 when I started the Dwraf Rangers WIP but till recently I couldn't find the time to show them some love. Their Captain has been ready since then, waiting patiently for his rangers. Finally, we have a dwarf gathering!

Court of the "León"

   Since I had the four columns ready I needed a base. A lion, a little souvenir from the famous Patio de los leones of Alhambra, which I bought in Granada, gave me the idea to make the following:

   First, I glued the lion on a MDF board. Then I covered the board with masonry putty and strewed sand on it. 

   I left four corner areas uncovered with the above materials for the columns, which will not be glued in order to be easily removed, if needed on another scenery.

   I painted the board with "flat earh" and highlighted it with "USA tan earth" and "dessert yellow". Then I attached the columns.

   In the meanwhile, we had a BBQ day. The steaks were tremendous and delicious!

   The paella had six kilos of rice and numerous shrimps, mussels, cuttlefish, shells, etc.

   Finally, this is the original "Patio de los leones" of Alhambra in Granada.

Statue

   Another terrain piece is ready. On the following photos you can see how I turned a bronze souvenir  into a hero knight statue.

   The war axe haft was short. To prolong it I added a plastic rod.

   I glued the lid of a spray tin on a wooden base for 54mm miniatures and put the souvenir on top.

   I covered both lid and wooden base with masonry putty and left them all night to dry.

   The result reminds me a statue in Plaza de Mina of Cadiz.

   I painted it grey, instead of white or metallic, to match with the columns.

   I think I have to make a base for all these as well!

Columns

   Four columns are my latest terrain pieces. I used plastic lids from my wife's face-cream jars for the bases of the columns and the empty plastic pills containers for the shafts. I covered them with masonry putty and painted them black. Then I highlighted them three times in a row. First with black grey, then neutral grey and finally light grey!

   When I see it now, I think it would have been better to use some more masonry putty to cover the side part of the upper lid to make it look more as a capital. But never mind ...

Saruman's sphere

   This is the Saruman's sphere of Mithril miniatures. I tried to give it a "marble" look with an eye in flames in the middle! More or less I am happy with the result. Though the first version was a disaster as you will see!

   Finally, a beautiful tower roof in Porto Sherry, a very nice neighborhood of the El Puerto de Santa Maria in Andalucia!

Another Dwarf Hero

   This is one of the three old metallic GW Dwarf Bowmen. My intention is to use him as a Dwarf Ranger hero. And this is the reason why I painted him with the Rangers' colours (light grey, dessert yellow and shadow grey).

   He will lead my Dwarf Rangers warband which you can see on a previous post. 

   In the meanwhile, I visited Jerez de la Frontera, one more time. It is a very nice Andalucian city, famous for the Gran Premio de Motociclisimo - Circuito de Jerez. By the way, the race is this weekend, 1, 2 and 3 of May.
