Beorn with axe, a bear and our new home (again!)

    Beorn is the skin-changer of The Hobbit, who can assume the form of a great bear. Beorn is an old metal figure of Mithil Miniatures and the bear is a low-priced plastic toy.

   Recently we moved to a new house, in a new place. This is the sixth house we change since 2011, the year I started this blog. This time we are in Paros, a very nice island of Cyclades in the center of the Aegean sea.

Happy New Year! A Bolt Action battle and wishes for the day!

   Happy New Year!

   The other day I found some photos of a battle we played at my friend Kostas' house. Kostas played with his Germans and tried to defend a Normandy village against his son and me, who played the Americans. It was a well-balanced  battle, which we really enjoyed!

   Anyway, the Germans managed to defend the village and the Americans had to retreat.

   These days I read the Bolt Action V3 book. There are some differences form the previous edition. Ιn partcular, the army building is different. Therefore, I have to adapt my Soviet units to meet the new version rules. It is good that I have some soldier miniatures still in sprues.

   It is also a good opportunity to finish painting my last three Soviet tanks! A new year's plan!

   Speaking of new year, I wish all of you a very happy new year, full of love, good health, joy, success, cheerful friends and suportive spouses!

Message (L' Art de la Guerre, Dead man's hand, Lord of the Rings and Bolt action)

   Hello everybody!

   The absence of any post for twelve months is a disgrace to my blog, I admit it! Though it is not an excuse, my laptop became obsolete and I had to take it out of action. The good news is that recently I acquired a new one. Let's hope that this year I will abide by my promise to upload at least one post every month. 

   This year I moved from my previous working place to another and once again I had to change house. Below you can see my new workbench and storage place.

   Nevertheless, I didn't stay idle all these months. I bought some rulebooks and miniatures.

   A good friend of mine gave me some old Lord of the Rings miniatures, so that I can breathe new life into them. He also finished the Khandish Charioteers, WIP of the four parts of which you can see in previous posts of this blog.

   I managed to build, but not to paint, my Soviet army for the Bolt Action. I also built some terrain pieces and played with friends using unpainted miniatures more than ten times. We are still learning the rules but we really enjoy the game every time. Photos will follow in next posts.

  Although my wife and I had some issues with the new house and the moving process, our cat on the contrary, didn't need time to bed in.

   Finally, I would like to mention that last August my blog became ten years old!

3rd Exhibition of Wargaming Chania (part 2)

   On the third and last day of the exhibition we played a couple of Test of Honour games. It was the first time I played this game and I can say that I really liked it. It is not important of course but my Green Clan had one victory and one defeat. Not so many photos this time!
