The Italian Alpini for Bolt Action (WIP)

Though the Armies of Italy book is still at the pre-orders list of the Warlord Games, there are already many reviews around the internet. After watching a couple of them, I decided to build my Alpini (this Italian Army's specialist mountain infantry) as part of the National Republican Army of the Italian Social Republic, because of the "German Support" Army Special Rule.

A medium mortar team

Three weapon teams

Two NCOs

Three riflemen

The LMG is the German MG42 light machine gun

All the parts I used are from the Alpini sprue except for the MG42 light machine gun and the MG42 spare barrel case, which are both from the German Grenadiers sprue. I removed the Breda M30 light machine gun from his left arm and replaced it with the MG42.

I used a left hand that holds the Panzerfaust from the German SS sprue.

Tier Element for Spectre

In Spectre there are four training level categories: Enlisted, Veteran, Tier 2 (Specialist Units) and Tier 1 (Elite Forces). Each has an Infantry Element composition of one to seven soldiers with Tier 1 to cost the most points.

I have five models of Wargames Atlantic Operators, which are enough for a Tier Element. Apart from their weapons I gave to each one of them a knife from Warlord Games US Rangers sprue and a flag from the US Airborne decal sheet.

Luftwaffe Field Divisions Squad for Bolt Action

The Luftwaffe field divisions consisted of Luftwaffe personnel that were transfered to German Army. They fought mostly on the Eastern front, all the way to Berlin.

I had a sprue of Warlord Games Blitzkrieg German infantry and some German grenadiers in smocks, ten miniatures all together. I decided to use them as Luftwaffe personnel. I painted blue their uniforms and splinter camouflage their smocks.

All the rest are Blitzkrieg miniatures in blue uniforms.

I gave a Sturmpistole to one of them. I found a photo of this weapon in Wikipedia and tried to make it as close to the real one as I could. The profile of this Luftwaffe squad in Armies of Germany book, do not have this option. The Assault Engineers have such weapon. Anyway, we play for fun, so my friends will not have a problem if I add him to my squad.

Viking Warband for SAGA

It's been more than six years since my last SAGA post! I think the lion's share of my posts all these years belong to Bolt Action with second the Lord of the Rings SBG. Anyway, here we are, my warband of twenty nine Vikings!

This Viking warband consists of Gripping Beasts, Conquest Games and Black Tree Design plastic and metallic miniatures.

The Warlord is a Gripping Beasts miniature

His veteran hearthguards are Black Tree Design miniatures,

as well as his special warriors, his Berserkers.

The Jarl is accompanied by his two units, Hearthguards and Berserkers.

The eight warriors are Gripping Beasts plastic Saxon Thegns.

Each Saxon miniature has a cross around their neck, not the proper symbol for the pagan Vikings. So, I cut symbol's lower part to turn them into a Mjolnir, the hammer of the thunder god Thor. I used Green Stuff to give a Viking-like long hair to some of them and to add furs to others.

All transfers are Little Big Men Studios products.

And finally the Levies are Conquest Games miniatures.

The Levies are equipped with bows and according to the rules, have no armour at all.
