Isengard Troll

An Isengard Troll has the highest Defence value of all other Trolls and the highest Fight value of any warrior of Isengard. And not only this, it is the only Troll with a shield! In my opinion, it is the toughest evil warrior on a battlefield. I gave to my Troll a huge medieval spiked battle flail for an even more terrifying look. Below you can see some photos of the project, step by step till the final warrior.

And the completed project, the ultimate Isengard Troll warrior!

War Mumak of Harad battle

Another LotR battle and this time a huge one with many many points on each side! Honestly, I don't remember how many, because we played this battle a long time ago, but believe me, they were a lot.
First of all, the photos of  the opponent armies:
Evil army

Good army

As for the evil side arrengement, it had the War Mumak of Harad, a Troll, Gothmog as the leader of the whole army, plenty of Orcs and Morannon Orcs, some Dunlending warriors, archers of both Dunlend and Harad and finally Haradrim warriors as the army rearguard. The evil army, right to left wing, as it is shown from the control player's eye view:
Gothmog and the Orcs

Dunlendings

Troll and Morannons

The good side, from right to left wing:

Legolas and Wood Elves

Celeborn and High Elves

Boromir

Cirion and Minas Tirith Knights and Warriors

And the battle begins! I had the evil forces and my plan was something like this:
Black is the first turn, carmine red the second

I had to move fast towards the enemy army because there was a lot of archers among its lines. So, on the upper part of the table-battlefield both Troll and Morannons who had better defence values would move forward followed by the Dunlendings and the Haradrims warriors. The latter would move through the forest for better cover. The same on the lower part of the battlefield, the Mumak moved first, followed by the rest of the army.

Mumak attack

Gothmog and his boys followed the Mumak

The clash began on the third turn

Cirion was waiting to face the Gothmog

What was the result of the battle? Evil army lost. Unfortunately, Elf Sentinels with their Enchanting Song special rule managed to take under their control the Troll and they moved it and placed it in front of all the Morannons, who till that moment had been as a shield for the Troll. Then all the Elves, Wood and High, hit it hard simultaneously and the Troll died on the spot of the above map where you can see the small red x. After this, the north evil army had no hope. After the Troll's death Mumak became the target for every archer of the field. The result was a glorious death for the Mumak on the spot with the capital X. Without these two important units it was a matter of time for the evil army to be destroyed.

Knights of Dol Amroth

As I promised, here some photos of the new project, the Swan Knights of Dol Amroth (aka SKODA) on Foot formation. Two companies, in total sixteen miniatures. Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth, farmer Maggot as a little drummer boy, a plastic warrior of Númenor as the formation's Banner-bearer, ten plastic warriors of Númenor and three Knights of Dol Amroth on Foot. All of them will be painted with the proper colours (the characteristic blue and white of Dol Amroth) to become a nice united formation. There are two reasons why I used warriors of Númenor. First,  they have wings on their helmets and second they are much more cheaper than the originals.

A warrior of Númenor as the Banner-bearer

Finally, a variety of Knights on Foot. Some of them have dwarf shields, while others have a  balsa shield. Spears are swords which I have extended with a pin.

That's it for today. Stay tuned for more!

Durin's Fall

A few photos of another WotR game. Two players on each side this time. Our side, the good guys, consisted of Durin's dwarves with Boromir's Warriors and Knights of Minas Tirith as allies. The opponents' side, the dark side, consisted of any kind of evil creature, such as: Trolls, Orcs, Wargs and a Ringwraith mounted on a Fell Beast.

Boromir and the centre of the force

Durin, Mardin and the left wing

The strong centre (you can see the reason)

The left wing (don't pay attention to the cigarette)

The battle

 Gimli vs Troll

Boromir vs Troll

Battle result: Durin fell and good forces lost despite the plethora of strong good heroes among their lines. Not so glorious day, I can say, for us the good guys.
The reason of our defeat was simple. First of all, we hadn't faced a nazgul on the battlefield ever before and we didn't know how to deal with it. Archers and balistae did nothing. Furthermore, our formations had a limited number of companies, not more than three each one of them. Huge mistake! Finally, we considered as first priority the Trolls and we focused on them while nazgul was the real threat. After the third turn we paid hard for our wrong estimation. Anyway, better luck next time!
