Giant Spiders

   The Giant Spiders are ready! I did a little search on the net and found a couple of interesting spider colour schemes. I wanted the colour of the spiders to contrast the black-grey stone bases. Having this in mind, I used brown as the base colour for all eight of them and then painted various shadows from light brown to black-brown to form their markings.

   The stones are the pine tree barks I have already described on the Giant Spiders WIP.

   The spider squad has already known the smell of gunpowder because it took part in a battle some days ago. More about this battle I will post the next days.

Ashrâk, the Spiderkin

   Many years ago, Ashrâk was bitten by a venom-back spider but, miraculously, he survived the ordeal and became much stronger because of it. When he marches into battle, he is surrounded by tiny spiders, which scuttle over and around him in battle, confusing and debilitating his foes, and leaving them easy prey for the rest of his Goblin warriors.

   Ashrâk, the Spiderkin has two very interesting special rules: the “Death-touch” to paralyse his enemies and the “Poison-blood” to upgrade Giant Spiders to Venom-back Spiders!

   I painted his cloak scarlet red to contrast with the black tiny spiders that surround him. For the same reason I painted his tunic buff. At the end, I heavily washed everything to give the miniature this dirty Goblin look. 

   Below you can see my Ashrâk, the Spiderkin, while he is waiting for his eight Giant Spiders to be completed so that they can fight together their hateful dwarves!

The Secret Entrances of Moria

   The Secret entrances are outlets for flood water that provide Goblins sneaky ways to infiltrate Khazad-dum. Once per turn, the evil player rolls a d6 dice for every secret entrance. For every score of '6', a Goblin warrior appears through one of the secret entrances. The only way for the Dwarves to avoid the Goblin reinforcments is to be on top of every secret entrance.  

   To make three secret entrances, I used the following materials: a plastic box of cotton buds, a blue foam super market tray pack, DOW insulation foam, wood putty, pins, white glue and a hard paper sheet.

   Below I will try to explain what I did step by step.

   Firstly, I cut one side of the box to make the three "metal" covers.

   Next, I cut three pieces of the blue foam to stick the covers on them. I used the blue foam because it easily imitates stone.

   I made a hole in the centre of each of the dow pieces and then stuck them on the paper with white glue and left them for a night.

   The next day I stuck the blue foam and covered the dow with wood putty. I also drilled small holes on the covers for the pins.

   I painted the holes black, stuck the covers and put the pins on their places.

   Next thing was to paint everything black and leave them for a night to rest!

   Next morning the entrances were ready for the highlights.

   Finally, I painted the covers 'gunmetal metal', added some drops of 'orange fire' here and there and washed with 'black brown'.

Moria Display Box WIP (Part 3)

   Moria Display Box interior is ready. The only thing I have to do now is to buy a glass as a cover and that's it! The box has 91 slots to place my entire Moria army. Next time, when I finish a Moria unit, I will make a post with it inside the box.
